P.S. I am having fun with this little experiment...you can too!

Hello, MnSue here bringing you a fun story on my family. :)

I recently have been diffusing a few different essential oils in our home. I love to experiment with these oils, I just have way to much fun with them! I have been diffusing different essential oils at different times and seeing how it changes our homes atmosphere.

I really had to laugh, the last couple of days when I have been diffusing a few different oils, as an experiment. In the morning, I like to put citrus fresh, peppermint (uplifting and energizing) and frankincense/purification in the diffuser. If I put them going during the evening, I switch out to lavender and take out the peppermint, as a calming, relaxing essential oil, with four teenage boys. :) I just have the diffuser going on the counter, in the kitchen, as where do most boys like to hang out? Next to the food right? Shucks and I always thought it was their mom!! ;)

It is so fun to see them feeling good, joking around and having a good time. So good, that they went and chased one boy out of bed by a group hug this morning!!! I got laughing at this one.  Since when do boys do this? Mine anyway, never give their bro's a hug, that is way to macho for them. :) I love to see this side of them.

I too have felt a difference with diffusing Young Living essential oils. I love having them.

Yesterday we were trying to inhale the lovely essential oils as they came out of the diffuser and see who could hold the diffused essential oils in the longest without coughing...my lungs got a workout. My throat could feel the citrus oil and my tongue could taste it. This is similar to a nebulizer in a sense but since we don't have one,  this is the next best thing!

The boys loved to let the moisturized air into their lungs and then close their mouth, lift their face up and poof out the moisture....just like clouds, coming out of their mouth. It was a good time and I felt awesome.

By the way, citrus fresh essential oil is one well known trick to feel good, fast.

I told the boys that it is so fun to be with them. Life can get so busy we forget to take these little moments and have good times.

By the way, the boys didn't even grumble when we went to weed the strawberry patch, at least out loud, or around me. We got it all done and I was so happy to know we can at least attempt to get fresh, home grown strawberries. I was excited to see them little white flowers, all over the patch. Little bunnies and birdies...please find some other food, okay? You are so cute but we would like them berries too!

Take time, enjoy life and your loved ones.

MnSue leaving you to have a lovely Memorial Day Weekend!
Thank you, to all, across our great nation who have sacrificed
for our great country! Without you, where would we be!?

P.S. I think the experiment with citrus fresh essential oil is working at uplifting the lives in our household, what do you think?

Smell, #1 Fastest Way to Absorb Essential Oils

Hello, MnSue here on Young Living Essential Oils.

I have been enjoying the Young Living Essential Oils and all their benefits. I never would have guessed, some years back, that I would be so active and so excited to share what I learn and help you understand essential oils.

There are multiple ways of using Essential Oils and of the body absorbing them. There will be certain ways that you find are your favorite. Like mine is diffusing right now, who knows what tomorrow brings.

MnSue will cover the fastest way to obsorb them, which is through the olfactory system.

What is olfactory system and also better yet, what does it do?

The olfactory system consists of  the nasal area and different parts of the brain.

For example when you smell something it starts of with the olfactory cells picking up the scent, delivering it to the olfactory epithelium. Olfactory epethelium is made up of two patches of olfactory nerves (1 cm sq) on the roof of your nose, or nasal cavity. Those cells in the olfactory epithelium extend hair like structures called "cilia"off of those cells into your nasal cavity and bind to certain smells. So now when those smells cross the cilia, the cell it is attached to passes along the scent (or signal it converted to now) to the cribriform plate (or bone at roof of nasal cavity) forwarding on through to the olfactory bulb. Olfactory bulb converts it over to the lateral olfactory tract traveling on into the five different structures of the brain.

Those five structures are;
1) Amygdala ~ stores and releases emotional trauma
2) Anterior olfactory nucleus ~ helps process smells
3) Olfactory tubercle ~ function of smelling
4) Piriform cortex ~ passes the signal on to help one clarify the conscious perception of the odor
5) Entorhinal cortex ~ help break down stimuli before sending on to the hippocampus (which is long term memory, and in this discussion helps us remember different scents).

Now when you look at the last diagram, you can see how the olfactory bulb is closely associated to the limbic system.

The limbic system, which consists of;

hippocampus ~ long term memory
amygdala ~ emotions
hypothalamus ~ autonomic nervous system & hormones
cingulate system ~ regulates blood pressure, heart rate and attention

When these two systems are so closely structured, one can understand how essential oils can help both physiological and psychological issues in us.

Isn't that just amazing how our bodies are made? So simple yet complex. So in closing I would like to mention,  a few popular ways in using the oils in personal use, through scent/olfactory. Diffusing (which is recommended only 15 minutes out of every hour to give your olfactory system a break in between using), cloth or tissue with essential oils on, hold close to face and inhale. Vent or fan,  put essential oil on cotton ball, attached to vent or fan, which works great in cars also. Nebulizers, vaporizer or humidifiers.  Keeping in mind, you only need a drop or two in using oils with these different ways of using essential oils. Less is best, until you feel comfortable using more.

A few of my favorite oils to diffuse are Frankincense, Citrus Fresh, Thieves, Peppermint, Lavender, Melrose, Lemon, Wintergreen and Purification.

Super Bugs & MRSA? Can Essential Oils Wipe Them Out?

Hello, MnSue here and loving it!

I have heard so much lately on the Super Bugs and MRSA (the antibiotic resistant bacteria found in hospitals) that it almost feels hopeless to step into any facility that seems to help one get better these days!

But wait a minute, did I hear right? Essential Oils have been researched on going worldwide, even Young Living's owner Gary Young, has for years researched the benefits of Essential Oils and shared his results with us. It is so amazing to see these studies coming out of many hospitals, schools, research labs and elsewhere, what Essential Oils are doing for us, to benefit all of us, personally and globally.

They have been used for centuries and even talked about in Biblical times. Why is it, that we, as very liberated countries are so slow sometimes in seeing what is in front of us? Why are doctors not wanting to share these amazing results and letting their clients know what a simple alternative is out there?

Here is an awesome read from Craig Brown, on the humble oils and the super bugs.

http://news.scotsman.com/health/Humble-plant-oils-found-to.6192412.jp

Craig goes on to show us that we need to address this concern further. I love this excerpt from his article;

"Not only are essential oils a cheap and effective treatment option for antibiotic-resistant strains, but decreased use of antibiotics will help minimise the risk of new strains of antibiotic resistant micro-organisms emerging," said Prof Samaras.

The Greek team believes essential oils could have diverse medical and industrial applications which can be used both external or internally."

3 Tips on How To Find a Home Based Business by MnSue

Hello MnSue here! I just have to laugh at how my day went. I have been doing youtube video's now for a little over a month and I just realized I need to blog about this, as it is kind of humorous.

I am a stay at home mom (mum as they say in England and Australia) and usually can get my quiet stuff done before the kids come home and the dog then starts her barking and wants to play. Well, it was one of them days, that every other video take, the dog would bark, the phone would ring, the cell would beep or I would get distracted by something not quite right in the background and stop the video. After about 40 of them kind of videos, me sitting in my dress all day, (a stay at home mom, who lives in jeans or jogging pants) it hit me really funny! I was determined to do this video, as I have been putting it off, with the "to do" list a mile long and this was one of them with a deadline aways off.   Over six hours later, I had a slight feel to what it is like in the movies and decided, they can have it. My hair was having to get redone, the lights were making me hot, the camera was off, the taping was not getting my voice.  Ahh, no wonder it wasn't getting my voice, after repeating myself for six hours straight, who would even have a voice left?

Anyways, this is not my typically day with a video take, thankfully! Otherwise this would not have been my eleventh one out there. It would have been my last.

Here you go, those 3 tips are in this video...let me know what you think.

MnSue had a fun day over all, knowing I have shared with others some tips on what to look for in a home based business. As a stay at home mom, I can say this has been an amazing learning curve with online business and it has helped me spread the passion one can have in their business.

I enjoy what I do? How about you? I can show you the ease of the business, you just have to take the first step and start.

Graduation, a Moment in Time with MnSue

Hello, MnSue here!

With the ending of the school year again in sight, one knows that graduation parties start up. What a beautiful moment for graduate and family. A milestone in the young person's life.  A moment in time, to capture the essence within pictures and video.

Graduates can be a little excited, what next? They can be just happy doing nothing.

Yet,
sometimes they are nervous about the next step.

Or maybe they eagerly wait for it with anticipation like I did.

I knew in my heart I wanted to go to Europe for a year. To visit the homeland of my ancestors. I was very fortunate and was able to save money and go for the year.

What memories. What dreams were fulfilled.

Now I would love to hear from you, what were dreams and goals out of high school? What did you do? Did you have any goals? That's okay if you didn't, sometimes it takes inner soul searching and time to contemplate ones future. Did you have a turning point in your life? Do you want to travel? Go for photography? Engineering? Business?

So In honor of the coming graduates, share your story.

Wherever you are. Graduate? Soon to be? Years ago? Share it with the rest of us and again I will pull a number from the entries in the order entered under the blog(the first entry will be one, second will be two and so on). I will use random.org to pull the lucky number and that person will win a bottle of Young Living Essential Oil from MnSue!

This contest will run the month of May! I wll post the winner June 1st!

You can share but you must be 18 years of age and have a United States mailing address to ship too, to win. It also must be listed in this blog feed to be counted, thank you.

MnSue leaving you to share your
 graduation moments with us,
a chance to win the Essential Oil
and have some fun without alot of fuss!

MnSue's 3 tips on blogging!

Hello, MnSue here with another voice, the voice of blogging. Why do I bring up blogging when I have been blogging about Essential Oils? I love to read others blogs on many areas of interest. I have hobbies and business interest and read everyday on something that pertains to my business, other than the weekend. I have read hundreds and hundreds of feeds, if not thousands. Oh, my and also videos. Videos will be another day but the reason I am writing on blogging is simply one word,"passion". Do you have passion about what you are doing? Do you have enough passion to write weekly if not a few times in a week?

I just read Tia's "10 beginner blogging mistakes to avoid" and I have to agree with her on passion. I have written on it before and I want to do it again. Why waste your time in a business you have no passion about as others can tell in a heart beat? I have read some fantastic blogs that you can tell are beginners but also some that have been around for a while and it didn't matter to me. But one thing I can tell in a jiffy, is that either they are passionate or not.

How do I chose to follow someone? They do not always have to have passion but if the content is midicor or doesn't pertain to my lot in life...I pile on and almost never go back.

Grab their attention and hold it.
You do not have to be an expert but if you like what you are doing, almost all of us can tell, so be yourself. You will hold our attention and we will come back, if it interest us. Just like this lovely picture, grabbed my heart. Your writing has your style, your gifts and your stamp of "art" on it too.  Also remember, you will not grab everyone's attention, so that is okay also. Just focus on the ones that like your style and information, keep them coming back with your great blogs!

Keep it Simple and too the point.
I don't care if it is 20 minute blog or 2 minute blog. I will read it and enjoy it, if I have read others of this blogger and liked them. If it is long, I save it for later, sometimes I even print it off. I did that the other day on a really good one that was amazingly long. But the blogger had a variety of information, given simply for anyone to understand and I wanted to learn, on health. I learned about 10 different tips in it with links to more information, not just his.

Give us a reason to come back!
Please do not bombard me with advertisements, emails, private messages, junk mail via snail mail and more. But give me a reason to want to learn, give me something that makes me say, "Wow, they did this for me!" Whether it was a tip, or direction or a call to action or whatever. Let me be in charge, where I am in the process of learning. Yet, don't give up on me, if I am a newbie or I have so much to do, I cannot keep. Just give me a reason to come back!

I have wanted to write again on tips for blogging as I have seen so many blogs out there with so many interesting hobbies and niches and wanted to share them with you. So fun to see the different gifts there is in writing out there!

Orange You Happy Sunshine? Essential Oils Can do that to you!

Hello, MnSue here with another read on Essential Oils and what the powerful punch they can do for you! Talk about punch, one of my all time favorites in the summertime, here in Minnesota, with corn on the cob, grilled kabobs and summer breezes is some type of a Citrus Drink! My absolute fav is the blending of lemon and oranges. I make a gallon of juice by taking about 5-6 lemons, squeezing them through the citrus squeezer and then about the same in oranges. Add one cup of sugar or a mix of some sort of sweetener that equals the one cup of sugar( agave, xylitol, honey).  Then fill the pitcher with ice cold water to equal a gallon.

How summertime refreshing is that? Now I am even more excited when adding a drop or two of lemon or orange essential oils to your own cup of citrus drink, it packs even more of a powerful punch of sunshine. Or too me, it does, anyway. Have fun and slip in a drop of peppermint oil also, into your glass.  Ahhh, how refreshing!

Lemon Essential Oil works on anxiety, blood pressure, helping to dissolve cellulite, clarity of thought (oh boy need about a gallon with the neighbors dog barking, nonstop), energy, gallstones, hair (cleansing), liver deficiencies in children, lymphatic system, memory improvement, nails to strengthen and harden, nerves, it is also known for its anticanceral benefits, antidepressant, antiseptic, anti fungal, antioxidant, antiviral, astringent, refreshing and more. This works very closely to the orange, wouldn't you say?  Must be the citrus that packs such a great punch?

Orange Essential Oil works on digestive, immunity, emotional balance and skin. It seems that it can help you with your appetite( I think I have one, orange you working great orange!), antidepressant, antiseptic, sedative. The French love it's medicinal use for complexion, baby colic, colds/bronchitis, insomnia, menopause, cardiac spasm, angina(false) and palpitation. The French really know a great product, do they not?

Both the lemon and orange are a citrus oil taken from the rind of the fruit. They both should not be taken 12 hours before going outside, in particular, applied neat to the skin.

As you can tell they both have similar properties and benefits to the body. I really enjoy using the different citrus essential oils in diffusing, in particular with Thieves, purification, frankincense and various others.  They work great in cutting down food smells after cooking or baking. They can uplift one when diffused, when feeling low or depressed. I love to apply it neat to the palm of my hand and breathe in deep for a few seconds. Then rub the extra over my stomach for aid in digestion...love not to waste these precious gems!

Any of the citrus essential oils are also fantastic blended with other essential oils for bathing. One of my favorites is to blend lemon or orange in with lavender for bath salts or gel, into the tub before going to bed. The smell is so awesome and uplifting after a long day.

The warmth of the water further promotes: Relaxing of the muscles, balances emotions, enhances your skin, loosens the cough, lowering of a fever, helpful in woman's issues young or old alike. It even blends beautifully well with frankincense and packs a further punch with skin, emotions, spirituality, depression, immunity, muscle issues and of course over all relaxation!

Cannot get a bath in? Take these above oils mix them in with a good vegetable oil like, olive oil or Young Living's V-6 oil and keep in a glass spray bottle. Spray on body and let them be on for a few minutes, take a very warm shower and the water will drive the oils in further, like the bath but not as much.  Otherwise, spray on after the shower and leave on, the warmth of the body will drive the oils in and be further utilized in sleeping. I love to layer the oils on before sleeping, on my feet.  Tip! Olive oil or V-6 oil is a great oil for the skin, a moisturiser without being too greasy.

Oh, all right, you say...I don't even have time to spray them on! What you don't have time to take care of yourself? Remember, if you don't care for yourself now, you will later but in a different manner and more than likely a bigger price tag.

In baking/cooking, I have replaced the lemon juice, with lemon oil & water. Same with orange.  Just keep in mind, you may have to use a tooth pick and dip it in the oil, as the amounts are so much more potent in oil form than juice form. Lemon essential oil has been great on fish. Just add lemon oil to vegetable oil, and other spices and marinate your fish in the oil for a few minutes. Delicious! When making whip cream fresh, again dip a tooth pick in your favorite citrus oil and add to whip cream and top on strawberry shortcake, cut fruit or other citrus cakes. Awesome on upside down pineapple cake! The benefits of those oils are amazing.  This will be your pleasant surprise when they take a bite out of the whip cream and wonder what where you bought it.

Orange you Happy Sunshine with the uses of these citrus Essential Oils? I sure am. Now MnSue can get her citrus in without getting too many cantankerous citrus sores around the mouth!

I hope you are learning to enjoy them as much as I am...MnSue leaving you to go and swirl the toothpick around your favorite oil and start incorporating it in with your food today!
